Indian democracy better than many

What ever you may say or think about my statement, to me democracy stands for giving authority to people and respecting what ever the out come of that authority. We recently saw the results of 2009 general elections and how the rejected parties and people accepted the defeat quietly, including so called hard liners. There are many democracies we saw in recent times whose participants just could not accept the defeat and choose to protect the people’s verdict. But fortunately our democracy is not one of those and people and parties still stick to some basic principles of democracy, except for some insignificant people and parties who choose to air their views disregarding the people’s verdict.

To my knowledge in India people’s verdict was always respected, except for the times when emergency period declared by Mrs.Indira Gandhi. Though there are different theories about the tendency of the Indian voters voting based on the caste and region.
